Olympus Life and Material Science Europe GmbH
Hamburg, April 2005 – Olympus Life and Material Science Europe GmbH has today announced the acquisition of the privately held microfluidics company Advalytix AG. With this move, Olympus demonstrates its commitment in this fast growing field in Life Science. Moreover, the extremely broad application spectrum and innovative technologies of Advalytix will provide Olympus with additional potential to nurture expansion and maximise business growth.

New laboratory for Olympus Diagnostica
Hamburg, April 2005 – Increasing floor space to approximately 600m² and designed to handle further expansion in the future, the research and development centre for immunoassays of the Olympus Life and Material Science Europa GmbH has moved to new premises. Located in Rungis, a technology area towards the south of Paris, around €500,000 was invested to provide researchers with a state-of-the-art facility which is housed in the same building as the head office of the Olympus France diagnostics division. Work in the laboratory will focus on the development of heterogeneous immunoassays for the new Olympus AU3000i immuno analyser to be released in November 2005. In combination with the well-known Olympus clinical chemistry analysers, customers will then be offered a complete serum working platform with a broad menu of more than 90 parameters.
